Always Looking for the Highest Vantage Point

Apollo has been studying the dining room hutch for a few weeks now.  He has stood on the dining room chair and thought about making the leap to the top, but never quite done it.  Today, he had an epiphany and decided he could leap from the dining room table (where he is not allowed!) to the window sill and then to the top of the buffet.  He has now done it three times to show us its not a fluke!

When he was born Carolyn called him Billy - should have called him Billy Goat!

Helping with the Manicure and Pedicure

At 5:00 a.m. this morning I realized Thai was missing.  We got up, turned on all the lights,  brought out the balls with the bells that she likes - called her, but to no avail.  We even checked the dishwasher and fridge in case we cleaned/or froze her - no cat!  The bed goes right to the floor with drawers underneath.  It turns out she wedged down behind the headboard and then got into the centre of the bed between the drawers and was fast asleep.  Of course, by the time she came out, she and Apollo were ready to play so its been an early morning!

After we cleaned the house, it was time for manicures and pedicures.  Anytime someone bends over, Apollo has to get on the shoulders to check out what's going on.

An Introduction to Cat Nip

For my birthday, a friend in Ontario made kitty blankets with their names stitched on the front.  She also put a small bag of catnip in each one.  We've never given them catnip toys before and they seem quite interested in it.  You can't see their names because they are wrestling with the new gifts.

My Little Helper

Thai loves to help put away the groceries, just in case there is a new toy in there for her.  Apollo is not so helpful.  Last night he decided to show our company how high he could jump and cleared off one shelf of the curio stand, busting the head off of a hand glazed fish - guess cats and fish don't go together!  That's his story, anyway!!

Home From the Pet Food Store

We have a friend who now works for FirstMate Pet Food and makes a very fine food for pets.  We decided to try out a bag of the kibble to mix in with their Oral Health Science Diet.  They love the bigger food, so we put the smaller kibble on top so they eat both.  We also went out and bought some containers to keep their food fresher, this week.  Apollo thought we had enlarged his cat food dish and invited his sister up on the counter (where they are not allowed) to check it out.

While the Dads are Away....

The cats were recently home alone - well not really, the downstairs neighbours were regular visitors to see what mischief they could get into.  Rod and Tanya live downstairs and have two cats of their own, but they don't visit, because Apollo hisses.
In any regard, Rod is an amateur photographer and took some other great pictures posted here before.  This one shows them in what we think is a chair and they think is a bunk bed, playing with their fish.

They err who thinks Santa Claus comes down through the chimney; he really enters through the heart

I like the quote above, and also one from Erma Bombeck who said that "There's nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child."  Therefore, its nice to share a few more pictures of kittens and children, and perhaps one or two of our bad kids struggling not to have their picture taken, wearing Christmas bells.  Merry Christmas everyone!
The first one is of the Ginger and Ziva playing Elefun with Branden. The elephant blows these plastic "butterflies" out of it's trunk and your supposed to catch them with a net. Ginger and Ziva love playing this with Branden.

The second picture is another great picture of Emily and Ziva dressed for the holidays.  Apollo puts his paw up like this all the time when he's being held.
We went to a Christmas party in Coquitlam last night and took Thai and Apollo with us, as we were staying overnight.  Barry bought them Christmas bells on the way - they were not amused.  We took these pictures this morning when we got home in front of our wall tree.  A great space saver!
